Introduction


In this Blog, we are going to talk about Project Communication Management and how Soft Skills play an important role in project success. It is very important to be able to have good communication skills in your project with delivering important information to people like project teammates and also to stakeholders. Project communication management is the processes that help with the flow of communicating information and being able to collect and gather data in a project. It also makes sure that this information is being sent based on the specific procedures that occur in Project communication Management. This is very important as the effective use of communication helps increase more successful outcomes in projects by making sure that the right information is being communicated to the right people. With Communication Management being important, below I will go over three important processes that occur in communication management and also how soft skills play a role in Project communication Management.




Three Important Communications Management Processes






Plan Communications: The Communications Management Plan is important, because it is what creates and documents the strategy and requirements of how the communication is going to occur in the project. It will outline information like what the communication group is going to look like and what text platforms are going to be used for communications. It also shows what are the different communication groups and the different types of information sent to each of the groups.



Manage Communications: The second step is managing communications. Managing communications is where the Project Manager has to be able to facilitate and make sure that the project communications are following the rules and requirements that are listed in the Communication Management plan.



Control Communications: Finally Controlling communications is where separate communications are created for different groups necessary. For example, the project managers create a separate group for stakeholders to convey important information related to them. Examples of this are the project status and project performance. This helps unnecessary groups like the project team members get updates that are not relevant to them.



Now that we have briefly gone over the Three Important Communication Management Processes, we are going to talk about how Soft Skills Play a Huge Role with the success of the project, especially when it comes to communication.




Importance of the use of Soft Skills in Project Management


Soft skills play a huge part when it comes to Workplace Communication. They also play a part to complement the hard skills of the job. Soft skills are usually skills that are not very technical or specific to the requirements of the job. They are more of secondary skills that play a huge role in the work performance. Examples of these skills are communication, time management, and being a good team player. Pretty much they are skills with interacting with people. With being able to Develop these types of skills in the workplace, it gives employees the upper hand with being able to handle and manage their job better. This plays a huge role with how the employees manage their tasks in the workplace. Below, I will discuss soft skills that are important for employees to be able to develop. These skills will be good to use in a project management setting.




Examples of Soft Skills That Play a Huge Role in Project Communication Management






Teamwork- First, being a good team member is a very important soft skill to develop as a project manager and a team member working on a project. It helps change the problem solving approaches with project work and helps other employees develop the skills to be able to solve any challenge they all come across.





Adaptability - Secondly, being adaptable is a very important skill with changing to a new task and trying to accomplish newer challenges that will come up throughout the projects that the project managers and team members are involved in.





Time Management- Finally, time management is a very important skill for employees to develop, by using the proper appreciate times to be able to plan the tasks to complete and achieve certain tasks in an organized, timely manner.


With companies and teams using Soft Skills like Teamwork, adaptability, and time management, this helps them with being able to improve their Project Communication management with each other. Because of better results of Project Communication Management from the soft skills, teams are able to perform their jobs better and accomplish more tasks and better results like a higher profit for example.




Conclusion


As shown, Soft Skills play a huge role when it comes to Project Communication Management with team members and Project Managers being able to achieve higher tasks. With being able to develop these skills, they will play a role of a catalyst of improving the effectiveness of doing the hard technical tasks in a better quality manner. As we talked above, adaptability is a very important one, because being able to develop that skill will help the team members and project manager be able to adapt to different dynamics of their project which can help team members learn newer hard skills. Also teamwork plays a huge role with the use of project communication management, because as working as a team, the team members are able to communicate better with each other. This results in tasks being accomplished with better quality.
