Introduction

In this blog post we are going to talk about Project quality management and its importance in being able to achieve the success of this project, and also how to communicated this importance to stakeholders, so that they can be aware and also support the importance of the use of quality when it comes to projects. In the creation of new products and technology, quality is a very important factor that plays a role and needs to have a certain standard for business to keep up with in order to be able to satisfy the customers. With business innovating newer products , services, and technologies to the customers, many of these customers are pretty satisfied with what they are coming across. However, if they notice a quality deficiency, they will eventually slowly not liking that product anymore. Because of this, quality management plays a big project management role with many of the projects that are occurring in companies, and there are many techniques and processes that occurs with quality management that I will discuss below. But first lets talk about what quality management is.

What is Quality Management

Patrice Server

Project Quality Management is the process for what companies use to be able to achieve a certain standard of quality for the product. This process is usually divided into separate deliverables for the project. Before the project starts, the quality measures and standards are started ahead of time to have a much more pleasant experience with the role of project managers to enforce these standard's for each of the deliverables that occurs in the project. With being able to enforce quality standards early in the project and also project mangers enforcing these standards, helps have a higher chance of the quality of the end result be very desirable to many stakeholders and customers. Below, I will discuss the important elements of Project Quality Management.

Three Elements of Project Quality Management

Quality Planning

Planning the quality of the parts of the project is one of the most important tasks with being able to achieve in Quality Management. With this steps the project manager and everyone in a team will be brainstorming ideas and requirements for being able to determine what is considered as a quality product, and also metrics for measurements to be conducted while measuring the quality of the product. For this step it is important to create a project management plan for being able to record ways on how to be able to achieve the project quality requirements. One example of what could be in the project management plan is a checklist of tasks to the direction of achieving a higher quality product. Also other requirements to have are weekly meetings to be conducted to make sure that the project is meeting up with the quality requirements and metrics to be able to to measure the quality.

Quality Assurance

Quality Assurance is the step to make sure that make sure that everything in the project is going in the right direction. It checks factors like whether the tasks in the project are getting completed and that if everyone involved in the project is giving importance to the quality aspect while in the middle of working on the project. One important way that is very common to make sure quality assurance is in place is if a checklist is being used.

Quality Control

The final element of Project Quality Management is Quality Control. Quality Control is when you assign an enforcer to the project to make sure that each of the quality aspects that were agreed earlier in the project are met. The enforcer will usually have checklist to be able to review the current state of the project on and see whether the project is going in the right direction and also whether it is up to date or a little behind. This also checks whether there needs to be improvements or obstacles in some parts of the project and also to be able to create a plan to be able to address those obstacles.

Increase in Stakeholders Trust

Stefan Wolpers

A high quality project is a very important aspect for the project to be able to gain the trust of the stakeholder. One challenge with being able to brag about the quality of your project is that many different stakeholders will have different standards, requirements, and points of view of defining what quality is. Because of this, it is very important to be able to define, plan, and communicate the quality. When it comes to interacting with your stakeholders, communicating is the most important step. With communicating with your stakeholder, you can be able to gain their trust by showing them reports of quality metrics with your projects like graphs and findings, which can help the stakeholder make a decision. Being able to communicate quality with the stakeholder will help the stakeholder gain more confidence with your data and being able to trust that it is a higher quality project.

Customer Satisfaction

Alice Namugawe

Customer Satisfaction also plays an important role when it comes to the quality of the product. Usually when the customer purchases an item, many of the characteristics they expect is that the product is sturdy, able to have capability of doing the desired act without any defects, and also needs to be able to last a long time. An example of quality with relation to customer satisfaction is that when a customer buys a handbag, and the stitching comes off after a week, then this clearly is a low quality handbag to the customer. Because of this, the customer will be completely dissatisfied and not want to buy that hand bag again. With that being said, the better the quality and the longevity, the more the customer will be more attracted to it.

Conclusion

As shown, quality management is a very important aspect for a project to be successful. With the approval of stakeholders wanting to invest in your project and also customers satisfaction, being able to make sure that the quality of the project stays strong will increase the trust of stakeholders and also customer satisfaction. Finally some important ways to convey information of the quality of your project to the stakeholder is to use graphs and metrics that measure the quality of your project. This is one strong factor that will increase the stakeholders trust.
